THE PRESENT 2000 PROOF COIN

The present is a time for action and endeavor, for
contemplation and reflection, a time to cherish the moment
and to plan future deeds. With the second $10.00 coin of the
Millennium Coin Series, titled 'the Present', coin designer
Peter Soobik has portrayed an image of an Australia approaching
a golden age of development. This is signified on the coin by
a golden horizon - the growth of civilization and culture -
and a growing tree, indicating unity, vigor and youth.
Prominent on the coin is the sun, pad printed in gold, the
omnipresent life source unifying all time. The silver edge of
the first coin in the series, 'the Past', has graduated to the
center of 'the Present', indicating progress and the arrival of
new cultures. The human links around the rim of 'the Present' coin
signify the growing importance of people to the nation, while the
broad golden horizon reveals a developing direction for Australia.
The third coin in the Millennium Coin Series, 'the Future', will be
released in 2001. The center of the coin is made from 99.9% fine
silver and the outer ring is made from 99.9% fine silver and
is gold plated in 24ct gold. There is a limited mintage of
20000 coins to be released and comes complete with a Certificate
of Authenticity and is housed in a presentation case of black velvet.
